1. Poem: “Raptor Attack”

“Raptor Attack”
by Ryan Brosmer

Before the movie ‘300’

I never would have thought
To shout ‘SPARTA!’
While standing around at work
Or even just mumble it,
Under my breath to a customer,
But now that thought,
Is always in my head,
On an almost daily basis,
And I feel bad about it,
Because it feels played out,
Like I could be more original,
Like your raptor attack noises,
Those are pretty cool,
And customers always seem shocked,
I wish I had something,
Something other than movie quotes,
Or lines from TV shows,
But all I have is my anger,
Which I hide under smiles,
And the smiles fill our tip jar,
With money that makes me less angry,
But then I feel like saying,
‘Show me the money!’
